Voters Hate Fags

In an effort to prove that page boys aren’t the only important topic in Washington these days, conservative religious and political leaders rallied on Sunday to oppose gay marriage. The annual Liberty Sunday Rally, sponsored by the Washington-based Family Research Council, was held in Boston this year in an effort to bring shame on the good people of Massachusetts for having the audacity to want to legalize same sex marriage.

The theme pushed by the Family Research Council at the rally, “Defending our First Freedom”, focused on how non-discrimination laws for homosexuals might constrict their right to express and act on their religious beliefs. They feel there is a big homo-conspiracy in America threatening to erode our religious liberties and muzzle free speech. In other words, they are afraid of laws that might jeopardize their ability to spew homophobic rhetoric in the name of God.

Does this homophobic shit really play with American voters? Are there enough hate filled mouth-breathers out there to elect candidates to national office based on the “I hate fags” platform? The Family Research Council thinks so.

Fiery speeches from the rally were broadcast to conservative Christian churches across the nation with the message that the Antichrist is gay. Republican Gov. Mitt Romney used the opportunity to court the far right vote for his upcoming presidential bid by accusing activist judges of “Striking a blow to the foundation of civilization” when they legalized gay marriage.

Thousands of people attended the rally on Sunday and tens of thousands more heard the vitriolic speeches through the miracle of radio at their church. It’s sad that this message of fear-mongering and hatred is being so well received by so many American voters. It’s sad but not surprising. It seems like there has always been a significant number of God-fearing people out there that just can’t feel good about themselves without demonizing some sector of society. Replace the word fag with the word nigger and the speeches at the rally on Sunday would have sounded just like the bullshit I heard growing up in north Idaho from the fine people at the Aryan Nation Church.

  1. It amazes me that people care what other people do in the privacy of thier bedrooms. Who are these religious idiots and why do think everyone should think like they do?

Maybe these people should clean up thier own “gay problem” in the churches and in congress (foley ring a bell?) before telling everyone else how to think and behave
