New Mexico Get Ready, a Plague's a Comin

The once great State of Colorado is being overrun by a horde of Californians fleeing that state’s big government and odious regulations. They may be fine folks, unfortunately, like Typhoid Mary they are disease carriers, infected with the Big Government Virus they are fleeing. As soon as they settle into a community, they start clamoring for those same regulation they were running from.
While they are ravaging our neighbors to the North, many are moving south into the Land of Enchantment. Already some cities like Santa Fe and Taos are rife with the infection. Like Europe during the days of the Black Death, New Mexico is facing a pandemic of regulations. Drastic action must be taken to stop the spread of this plague. I have a “modest proposal.”
There is little hope for the Santa Fe and Taos. Those localities should be designated as a Quarantine Zone, and all Californians would be required to live there. Violators of the Quarantine would be arrested, punished and returned to their ghetto. Albuquerque is a cosmopolitan City and the Mayor could issue special dispensations to those who need to come here. Of course they would be subject to a curfew, from dusk to dawn, and not allowed with one thousand feet of any Governmental office.
For the present we probably don’t have to worry about other cities. New Mexicans are independent thinkers, so a Californian would not last long in Farmington, or West Las Vegas. Those folks will not put up with more regulations, lynching would not be unthinkable. Californians may have smog in their minds, but self preservation would keep them away and safe.
To keep this pestilence from the Government the State Capitol should be moved as far as possible from the Californians. Perhaps Carlsbad Caverns. A deep, dark hole in the ground covered with Bat Guano, is the perfect place for Politicians, Bureaucrats and Lobbyists.
Let us hope someday a cure will be found, but until that day Californians must be kept away from the political process.
